Area high schools conduct graduations

Members of the class of 2016 at area high school have already started receiving their diplomas, with other ceremonies still to come.

Schools in the Bellflower, Downey, Lynwood, Montebello, Paramount, Norwalk-La Mirada and Los Angeles school districts have yet to graduate.

In the Bellflower Unified School District, Bellflower High School, will hold graduation at 6:30 p.m. June 16 in the Ron Yary Stadium on campus. Mayfair High School will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 15 in Yary Stadium; and Somerset High School will hold graduation at 6:30 p.m. June 14 at the school, 9242 E. Laurel St., Bellflower.

In the Downey Unified School District, Downey High School will graduate at 7 p.m. June 9 at the Cerritos College Stadium, 11110 Alondra Blvd., Norwalk; and Warren High School will graduate at 7 p.m. June 10 at the college. Columbus High seniors graduated June 8.

In the Lynwood Unified School District, Firebaugh High School will hold graduation at 7 p.m. June 13 in the Lynwood High School Stadium. Lynwood High School will hold graduation at 7 p.m. June 14 in the campus stadium; and Vista High School will hold graduation at 5 p.m. June 14 in the Lynwood High Gymnasium.

In the Montebello Unified School District, Schurr High School will hold graduation at 6:30 p.m. June 15 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park; Vail High School will hold graduation at 5 p.m. June 15; the Applied Technology Center will hold graduation on campus at 6:30 p.m. June 16; Bell Gardens High School will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 16 at East Los Angeles College; and Montebello High School will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 16 in the campus stadium.

Commencement ceremonies in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District will be held for the Adult School at 4:30 p.m. June 15 at Excelsior Stadium, 15711 Pioneer Blvd., in Norwalk; Norwalk High School will graduate its seniors at 6 p.m. June 15 at Excelsior Stadium; the Southwest Academy ROP School will hold graduation at 4:30 p.m. June 16 at Excelsior Stadium; John Glenn High will hold graduation at 6:30 p.m. June 16 at Excelsior Stadium; La Mirada High School will hold graduation at 6:30 p.m. June 17at Goodman Stadium, on the school campus; and El Camino High School will hold graduation at 4:30 p.m. June 17 at the school, 14625 Keese Drive, Whittier.

In the Paramount Unified School District, Paramount High School will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 9 at the school. Buena Vista High graduated June 7.

In the Los Angeles Unified School District, Huntington Park High School will graduate seniors at 6:30 p.m. June 9 at the school, South East High School will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 9 at East Los Angeles College; Bell High School will hold graduation at 7 p.m. June 28 at East Los Angeles College; Maywood Academy will hold graduation at 6 p.m. June 10 at East Los Angeles College, Marquez High School will hold graduations for three separate programs at 6 p.m. June 10, 7 p.m. June 11 and 11 a.m. June 12, all on campus; and South Gate High School will hold graduation at 5 p.m. June 9 at the Stub Center in Carson.

In the El Rancho Unified School District, Salazar High School seniors graduated June 2 and El Rancho High had commencement exercises June 7.

In the Alhambra Unified School District, Alhambra and Century high seniors graduated May 27 and Mark Keppel and San Gabriel high schools had graduation ceremonies May 28.

More than 3,000 students from Whittier Union High School District’s five comprehensive high schools, two alternative high schools, adult school and transition program capped their high school careers with commencement ceremonies from May 31 to June 2.

Schools included Whittier Adult School and Sierra Vista High, La Serna, Frontier, California, Whittier, Santa Fe and Pioneer high schools.
