Artist displays work at Marina del Rey library

South Los Angeles artist Al Hornsby is displaying some of his artwork at the Lloyd Taber Marina Del Rey Library, 4533 Admiralty Way, through the month of August.

Hornsby says is knowledge of art is heavily influenced by European culture, but he also has pieces that lean toward social commentary, especially pertaining to celebrities.

He said the exhibit will change throughout the month as he displays different pieces he has created over the years, including a drawing of Michael Jackson he plans to exhibit the last week of the month in observance of Jackson’s birthday, which is Aug. 26.

Library hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, noon to 6 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
