BELL — Clifford W. Graves, a retired administrator who worked for the city of Carson from 2007 to 2013, has been hired as interim community development director for Bell, replacing Joe Perez, who resigned to take a similar job in another city.
Graves, who has 40 years experience in city government, has been contracted from March 26 through Dec. 31, said interim City Manager Jerome Groomes, who also worked in Carson for a number of years.
Graves will earn $70 an hour for a total of $145,600 if he stays through December. As a retiree in the state pension plan, as is Groomes, Graves may not work more than 960 hours in a year.
Graves has a master’s degree in planning and a bachelor of arts degree from UC Berkeley.
