BOOK CORNER: Women learn to negotiate for themselves in new book

By Marissa Wells

Contributing Writer

“With a healthy brand you can negotiate any deal from a position of strength,” said Raye Mitchell, author of “How Women Negotiate from a Position of Strength: Protecting Brand and Intellectual Property Rights.”

“How Women Negotiate from a Position of Strength” is uniquely structured in that it is part guide book and part workbook.

“The goal of having a workbook right there with the ideas is that you can formulate your preparation plan as you’re sort of taking notes in the book,” Mitchell said.

The go-to book is intended for any woman who wants to build her credibility, her brand and maximize her deal-making skills.

“It’s intended to reach women with everyday problems living their lives with everyday expectations to do well,” the author said.

Readers will find inside secrets on how to improve their effectiveness and enhance their credibility when needing to persuade others on important issues. Pointers shared include how to develop the tool of preparation, how to check your brand profile and more.

Mitchell’s favorite step point shared in the book is the one concerning brand care.

“Your brand is your lifeline to your audience and your ability to be heard in a noisy world,” Mitchell said. “It is among one of your most valued intellectual property rights and assets.”

It is Mitchell’s hope that readers of her book will “discover and repair their blind spots and credibility bars that may hinder their ability to have their most persuasive voice in negotiations.”

Mitchell, an advocate for health and wellness, shares tools in her book that she believes will aid readers on their life journeys.

“If you can enhance your negotiation skills, you can improve your health and wellness because you take down the anxiety and the stress,” the author said.

In addition to being an author, Mitchell is a semi-retired intellectual property lawyer. She also conducts speaking engagements surrounding self-love, self-acceptance, tools of negotiation and life elevation.

She lives in Northern California. To learn more about the author please visit her websites and
