CHEERS!

The Rev. Edwin L. Williams Jr. was surprised June 21 for his 60th birthday at his home church, New Prospect Baptist with the congregation joining him in celebration.

In 1983, Williams became an ordained Baptist pastor. Prior to his current location, he served at Southwest Institutional Baptist Church for 16 years.

African American Board Leadership Institute alumni Andrea Woods and Ron Green joined the board for Urban Scholar Athletes.

Woods, a food and beverage controller at 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, has a background in financial reporting, analysis and budgeting.

Green works for the Walt Disney Company in the areas of technology finance and strategic planning.

The new recruits sit on the advisory board of directors for the youth organization, which helps young people develop skills and traits for engagement in their communities.
