Jackie Majors, CEO for Crystal Stairs, has been appointed to the commission for the Los Angeles County Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development. The organization builds and strengthens early care and education by providing recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on policy, systems and infrastructure improvement.

Majors’ program, Crystal Stairs, focuses on family-oriented services, such as helping parents find and afford child-care and training child-care providers.

The Rev. David Buggs is celebrating more than 40 years of ministry at Central Baptist Church, which he also founded. He will receive the title of pastor meritusas he passes on the torch of leadership at an appreciation and elevation service at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 22 at Central Baptist Church, 1641 E. Carson St.

In addition to his service to the church, Rev. Buggs worked for Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station as a nuclear weapons specialist during his early years as a pastor. He also served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army during World War II.
