Cheers West Edition

Noel Massie, the president of United Parcel Service’s Southern California District, will receive the Vice Admiral Samuel L. Gravely Leadership Award on Feb. 18, at the Battleship Iowa Museum.

The annual award recognizes African-American leaders in the Southern California area who exemplify the service of the late U.S. Navy vice admiral. Gravely was the first African-American to command a warship, achieve flag rank and eventually vice admiral.

At UPS, Massie is responsible for every aspect of the district’s operation, including sales and customer relationships.
