Jim Colon, the vice president of African-American Business Strategy at Toyota Motor Sales, is retiring this month after 36 years with the company.
Colon was responsible for working with African-American business and media communities as well as building relationships with external groups important to the black community.
Under his leadership, Toyota strengthened relationships with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, among others.
He also built the brand’s presence on historically black colleges and universities with the introduction of the Toyota Green Initiative — a program designed to promote sustainable living among the next generation.
