CHEERS!: Kamlager elected to community college board

Sydney Kamlager, district director for state Sen. Holly Mitchell, won a seat on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees during the March 3 election.

Kamlager said she is committed to helping thousands of community college students who are striving to move up to four-year colleges or universities, to learn a trade, or to start a new career.

The board of International Association of Social Work with Groups, Southern California Chapter – Long Beach has added Zaneta J. Smith .

Smith is founder and principal consultant at Good Works Consultants which specializes in youth and young adult programming.

The association is a not-for-profit organization, seeking to promote excellence in professional practice, education, field instruction, research and publications.

The Sheenway School and Culture Center students conducted a bake sale fundraiser at an event to help raise scholarship monies for Los Angeles Southwest College class graduates of 2015.

Measia Aaron and Calixte Beohourou led the fundraising efforts Feb. 23, which raised $245.
