GARDENA – The city will host the 28th annual Youth Chess Tournament from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7 at the Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 W. 162nd St.
Students between kindergarten and 12th grade who live in Southern California are eligible to compete. Beginners are welcome; however, each participant must know how the pieces move.
Each competitor will receive a participation ribbon from the city and a first, second and third place trophy will be given in each grade division. Each division will be determined by grade level and is limited to 14 participants.
Registration is free if received by March.
