INGLEWOOD – The city’s financial condition and its future economic outlook will be the focus of Mayor James T. Butts’ 2019 State of the City Address April 18 at the Hyatt Regency LAX Hotel on Century Boulevard, officials said.
“The city is on a trajectory unparalleled by any in the nation,” Butts said. “I’m going to discuss all the economic indicators, all the performance indicators that the city is experiencing right now along with future development.”
The event, hosted by the Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, will allow Butts and others to share their accomplishments and goals for 2019 and beyond, the mayor said. Other presenters include:
• Simon Woods, CEO of the L.A. Philharmonic, who will update residents on the move to bring the Youth Orchestra Center to Inglewood. The $14.5 million construction project, designed by famed architect Frank Gehry, will transform the former branch office of Security Pacific Bank on South La Brea into the YOLA Center.
• Kevin Demoff, CEO of the Los Angeles Rams, who will review the team’s 2018 season – during which they made it all the way to the Super Bowl – and detail plans for the team’s opening season at Inglewood’s L.A. Stadium at Hollywood Park in 2020.
• Los Angeles Clippers President Gillian Zucker, who will discuss the team’s current playoff picture and detail the team’s plans for the Clippers Arena it wants to build Inglewood.
